I try to have one completely funky, hip arrangement in each project that I do. It’s got a little bit of a “Saturday Night Live” feel to it, but I’d prefer to say Sunday Morning Live (if this ‘Livens up’ your people). This is such a blast to play and features a smoking alto saxophone (it’s all written out though-even the ad lib solos). This will be a GREAT call to worship!

This arrangement is in the key of G

Instrumentation Descriptions:

Guitars:
The Electric and Acoustic Guitar players will have a blast on this tune. It’s just plain funky! Tell them to listen to the recording and then just let them go!

Piano/Keys:
The piano player is playing a Clavinet on this funky tune. If he is a Stevie Wonder fan, he will immediately know what to play. If not, a written out piano/clav part is included that is taken directly from the recording.

Drums:
This is just pure funky! Have him listen to the recording and he will absolutely know what to do. This will be one of ‘those’ songs that the drummer LOVES to play!

Bass:
The bass is all over the place on this tune. Chris Kent is the bass player on the recording and he is SO FUNKY!!! I have transcribed what he did so you can play like him. This one will take some practice for the bass player to get this groove down, but it is WORTH IT!!! You ‘could’ use synth bass if you don’t have a live one, but you really do want to find a live bass for this tune.

Horn Section:
The horn section will really enjoy this arrangement. There is some Stevie Wonder and some Kool and the Gang in this funky tune. The licks are not difficult to play but really make this chart totally smoking! There are a couple of notes that Steve Patrick took up an octave for the recording, but they are not written in the music. I honestly don’t think too many churche trumpet players could play those notes, and we don’t want your lead trumpet player trying to play something he doesn’t have a chance of hitting, do we? 🙂

Instrumentation is: 2 trumpets, alto sax, tenor sax, 2 trombones and rhythm section. A written out piano part AND bass part are provided with this arrangement. For copyright reasons, this arrangement can only be shipped (no download/email).

There is a congregational version of every arrangement included as well that includes a lead vocal line. Use the instrumental feature version as an opener to the service and then use the congregational version during the worship service.

All arrangements are $40 each, which includes the Full Instrumental Feature version AND the Congregational Version.
