This is a great worship song by Matt Redman. When you listen to his original recording, you'll realize that Matt is a U2 fan. I made this arrangement in the 'feel' of one of the U2 arrangements that Matt Redman clearly got his ideas from. The rhythm section on this arrangement is Absolutely Amazing!!! This has been one of my favorite worship songs since I first heard it. Just to cry out to God, "I'm desperate for you!" is so powerful. With acoustic guitar, flugel and accordion (written out for keyboard to play it) at the beginning, this arrangements builds to a key change where the trumpet player soars with that EXACT line. I admit it, I'm a John Mayer fan. I like the feel of some of his songs. This arrangement is a cross between John Mayer and Tom Petty. This great worship song slots really well in this style and the flugelhorn seems like he was just built to play this tune. There are some powerful moments in the middle and the accordion really adds to the feel. This is such a powerful song and I wanted to make sure we captured the pure passion of the song. It begins intimately and builds to a huge key change with a rockin' lead guitar solo on the Chorus of 'God Is So Good.' After coming out of the guitar solo into a key change to an a capella horn section breakdown that is POWERFUL, there is one more chorus and then it comes back down at the end. This is a MOVING arrangement that will probably be overwhelming to all who are involved when it is played live in a worship service. I try to have one completely funky, hip arrangement in each project that I do. It's got a little bit of a "Saturday Night Live" feel to it, but I'd prefer to say Sunday Morning Live (if this 'Livens up' your people). This is the listening for the complete set of 13 arrangements. This is an amazing instrumental worship record by itself, let alone the arrangements. It's worth the price of the CD just to listen to it in the car. If you're looking for a way to include Horns in your worship service in a cool, contemporary way that doesn't sound like a Praise Band, then this is the project for you! It's a cross between a contemporary worship rhythm section, John Mayer, U2, Mr. Holland's Opus, Chicago, the Trans-Siberian Orchestra and a little bit of the Top Gun lead guitar sound.
