I’m a trumpet player and I remember seeing/hearing the Phil Driscoll Christmas record called “Heave and Nature Swing.”

Man…that fits so well. Christmastime is the PERFECT TIME FOR A BIG BAND to swing it out!

Do you have a big band? Do you have a small combo? Do you have a church orchestra with rhythm section? Do you just really want to have a big band play but aren’t sure where to start?

I created a collection of big band arrangements that I’ve called the AK Little Big Band Series.

Why ‘Little Big’ Band?

Ultimate flexibility! This collection of 10 arrangements was written and recorded with a full big band (4 trumpets, 4 trombones, 5 saxes and rhythm). BUT BUT BUT, this collection can work with a 2/2/2 section of 2 trumpets, 2 trombones and 2 saxes (usually 1 alto/1 tenor but adding a bari would be great!). So whatever size group you have, this collection could work for you.

EVEN MORE FLEXIBILITY WITH SOLOISTS!

All 10 arrangements feature a soloist. But again with the flexibility theme, I recorded the entire record with a vocalist, trumpet, trombone AND sax player each playing the solo. So there are 4 complete recordings of all 10 songs (yes 40 different versions to choose from for the series!).

Here’s a quick video overview of the series:
