For churches with larger orchestras, this series will be something you can pull out with minimal rehearsal time to play as an opener to a service or as a special offertory. For smaller or younger church ensembles, this series will be playable and sound great but it leaves room for growth. As you add more players, you’ll be able to thicken up the sound without doubling a lot of parts.
These arrangements are 2-3.5 minutes long each, so they work great as openers to the service. This is a well rounded series. We have fanfares(playable) and chorales, rhythm driven pieces and orchestra driven pieces. They are mostly up-tempo with a few ballads for offertories. Volume 2 is a set of 10 arrangements of readily recognizable hymns.
Song Titles are:
Be Thou My Vision (cinematic pastoral/scoping feel-orchestra based)
Blessed Be the Name (Funky tom groove with rhythms that easily pocket with piano/rhythm-This is the challenging tune in the series)
Christ the Lord Is Risen Today (Brass fanfare opens into light pop/rock groove)
Great Is Thy Faithfulness (Beautiful power ballad of this classic hymn)
I Surrender All (Worshipful ballad that works in any style worship service)
Joyful, Joyful We Adore Thee (Powerful brass fanfare opens leading in to a pop/rock groove that will easily be attainable by all)
Leaning On the Everlasting Arms (Tight 70’s sort of groove for rhythm with easy horn type brass parts that will pocket easily whether you just have piano or full rhythm)
The Old Rugged Cross (A ‘old blues’ type feel in 6/8 makes works well with just piano but really shines with full rhythm section. Piano player will play the written out B3 part)
This Is My Father’s World (One of the majestic ballads in the series, this arrangement works great with just piano plus the 8 core players)
When the Roll Is Called Up Yonder (Southern Gospel/2 beat country – This is my ‘nod’ back to my early days living here in Nashville and working with Lari Goss. Think the brushes on snare ‘train’ sort of feel and you’ll get it. Works great with just piano, but drums, guitar and bass take it over the top. And there is a break down soli section in the middle that has a big band sort of feel!)
Each arrangement is $59.99 but if you purchase the complete set you’ll pay only $450 (saving $150!).
The 8 Core Orchestra Series is a full orchestra instrumental series based around an 8 core group of players plus piano/rhythm.
The 8 core players are:
2 woodwinds 2 trumpets 1 horn 2 trombones 1 bass trombone or tuba
All of the melody parts are covered in these 8 core players’ parts. But these are full orchestra arrangements.
The complete orchestration is: 2 flutes, oboe, 2 clarinets, bassoon/bass clarinet, 3 trumpets, 2 horns, 2 trombones, 1 bass trombone/tuba, 2 violins, viola, cello, double bass, harp, percussion (2 players), timpani, piano, electric bass, guitar(s), drums and 4 different string reduction parts.
One of the key benefits to this series is that it can grow with your group! You may start with a small, mixed instrumental ensemble, but as you add more players and your group grows, they will have parts to play in this series.
The 8 Core Orchestra Series Volume 2 features: • Friendly keys • No extreme registers • No funky, tricky rhythms • No crazy, fast string passages
