Our inspiration for the feel/groove of this song is Stevie Wonder’s classic ‘Superstition’. We’re not using his melody or lyrics, mind you. We’re just using the groove/feel of his song to help come up with a cool, funky way of playing Amazing Grace.
This version of Amazing Grace has got more of a minor feel. This arrangement grooves hard and is FUNKY!!! The alto sax carries the melody at the beginning of this and it rocks. The best thing is that it’s not a difficult solo to play AND it’s written out!
No matter what, you will want to hear the recording of this one below!
INSTRUMENTATION:2 trumpets, 2 trombones, 2 saxes and rhythm
ADDITIONAL INSTRUMENTATION:Flute 1 & 2, Oboe, Clarinet 1 & 2, Violin 1 & 2, Viola, Cello and Bass
A written out piano part and bass part are provided. Some tutorial videos for your drummer are available on our YouTube channel. We also have written out suggested solos for any of the ad lib solo sections in case your players can’t improvise.
